We are seeking to hire a full-time Water Resources Design Engineer to join our civil engineering team working on river and floodplain restoration projects throughout California. This candidate would be expected to manage water resources and ecosystem engineering design and construction projects from conceptual design through design completion and implementation. This includes developing designs for and managing staff performing multiple habitat restoration, fish passage, and general river, floodplain, wetland, and watershed-related design projects.

FlowWest staff are currently working remotely with the future option to transition to either a full time or part time office-based work schedule out of our Oakland or Sacramento hubs.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

Required skills/attributes:

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and ability to manage junior staff in design tasks such as surface creation, grading, and calculating volumes.
• Ability to manage projects and tasks and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams
• 3-8 years of experience in public works or engineering consulting
• A collaborative and respectful communication style and desire to work with diverse teams
• Desired skills/attributes:
• Registered Civil Engineer in California
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a

related field

• Professional experience including:
• Preparing construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and s
• Preparing and monitoring scopes of work, project schedules, and budgets
• Conducting field surveys, including use of RTK and Total Station
• HEC-RAS or similar hydraulic modeling software
• Fish passage or stream restoration design
• Strong client management and communication

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
