Role Summary:
This position is responsible for ongoing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs and related activities at the Western Canada Flowserve facilities. The role is located at our Leduc facility, but will also cover our facilities in Edmonton, Fort McMurray, and Calgary. While it is important to ensure compliance with all established HSE programs and maintaining compliance with OH&S, CEPA, local, Flowserve, and other industry standards, maintaining compliance is just the beginning and our bar for success is much higher.

To be successful, this will require close collaboration with Regional HSE Manager, Platform, and Site Leaders and the ability to navigate and influence effectively in a matrixed, multi-site environment.

Responsibilities & Requirements: Responsibilities

Influence safety culture and drive accountability at assigned sites and facilities to achieve and maintain a high-performing internal HSE rating

Evaluate operational practices to determine methods to eliminate or control workplace hazards

Lead the investigation of all safety or process events, including complete documentation, root cause analysis, improvement recommendations, and agreed action implementation

Ensure Job Safety and Environmental Analyses/Job Hazard Analysis are conducted as required

Ensure implementation of Global Safety Actions and initiatives

Monitor training completion data to ensure our work force is current with all required safety training

Lead facility safety committees by selecting members, conducting training, coordinating activities and empowering members to achieve specific safety goals

Prepare accurate HSE metrics

Oversee ongoing compliance with programs such as Hearing Conservation, Hazardous Waste Management, PPE, LOTO, New Hire Orientation, and Industrial Hygiene

Daily communication of HSE related topics

Coordinate vendors/consultants and manage relationships with various regulatory agencies

Qualifications :
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HSE role within a manufacturing environment Bachelor’s degree, but may be substituted with equivalent years of safety experience

Prior experience with proactive safety management at multiple sites or locations

Familiarity and experience with federal, provincial, and local regulations

Experience with OH&S and COR standards compliance

Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

Ability to compile technical data and prepare effective analytical reports

Demonstrated attention to detail and time management and organizational skills

Skilled in communicating ideas and instructions clearly, particularly with technical information

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications

Demonstrated proficient verbal and written communication skills and the ability to adjust for all levels of the organization

Able to travel approximately 10% within North America

Preferred Experience / Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or HSE related field preferred
