We are Flexible Support Options a supported living, residential, short break and outreach organisation. We provide packages of support to adults /children with learning disabilities, physical disability, autism and complex mental health. We support People to live in their own home in their community and or to access their local community.
Overall job purpose
The Support Worker role is an opportunity to provide support in a person-centred way, helping people to run their home, engage in meaningful social activities including education and employment and helping people to establish relationships with friends and family. We encourage a team work, collaborative approach and aim to recruit people with a positive attitude, in line with the Organisation’s values. The Support Worker role is very varied and diverse.
The Support Worker will have support and guidance from the Service Manager, and Team Leader in some places. During your induction you will work with a ‘buddy’, who will be an experienced member of staff. They will help you settle into your new role, get to know people you will be supporting and their families, your colleagues and help you understand the systems and processes.
There is 24 hours on call service which is provided by Service Managers and Team Leaders so the Support Worker will always have support and guidance.
Support Workers hours can be anything up to 40 hours a week, depending on your availability and preference. We make every effort to ensure you have a good work-life balance though you will be required to work some evening, weekend and overnight support. Flexible Support Options operates flexible working hours linked directly to the needs and wishes of the person supported.
Training
You will be required to attend training regularly and participation in staff meetings and staff performance reviews as required to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
