Since launching ExoSphere in March 2022, Fleet has signed contracts with over 30 clients including Rio Tinto, Barrick Gold and Core Lithium and completed over 120 Ambient Noise Tomography surveys, more than any other company in the world.

The Science Team at Fleet Space Technologies is composed of team-oriented technical experts who are driving innovation in exploration technology for use on the Earth and beyond it. The Role

Fleet Space Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join the Science team and guide the Physical Modelling activities across cross-functional teams. We seek a person with a broad skill set of modeling physical systems that involve large data sets. A strong mathematical and physics knowledge is applied to a wide range of applications from identifying anomalies in mining data sets to fleet management of space assets, the incumbent will provide data modeling support and technical advice to external clients and other internal stakeholders at Fleet (including Product, Software, Satellites, Sales, etc.). This challenging and inspiring role is ideal for candidates who have extensive data science + physics + modeling experience and are passionate about utilizing 3D exploration data to drive new discoveries in a team environment within an agile, high-growth, cutting edge technology organization. As Machine Learning techniques are used to unlock information within the data, expertise utilizing advanced technologies and progressive means will ensure success.

ing to the Director of Planetary Geophysics, the Data Scientist – Physical Modelling will collaborate across many stakeholders to analyze and refine datasets that will shape subsurface models for clients, embedding them into their exploration programs and delivering exceptional results. They will also provide valuable input to internal teams for product development. The incumbent should expect to engage with a plethora of yet to be defined challenges that will drive revenue for the company, inspire/challenge them technically, and help change the world (while taking Fleet interplanetary)!

They Will Partner With Multiple Teams Including

• The Account Management team, consisting of experienced geologists who work with clients to plan and execute surveys and co-develop interpretations of resulting subsurface models
• The Geophysics team, to assist in ongoing agile development of Fleet’s data processing codebase
• The Software team, responsible for building and maintaining the cloud platform and data ingestion infrastructure required to support ExoSphere surveys
• The broader Data Science team, to assist in the training and use of predictive machine learning models for geological outputs of interest for clients
• The Product team – to collaboratively work on requirements and make sure we’re building the right thing for our customers

The preferred location of this role is Australia (remote or based in Adelaide, South Australia) or the West Coast of North America (USA or Canada) and can be based from Chile or the European Union; based on prior experience and ability to team remotely.

Main Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Build models and techniques to extract information from multiphysics data sets
• Work with SaaS software team to translate models and algorithms into operational software
• Compiling and ing on large geophysical data sets
• Evaluating the performance of analysis techniques
• Represent Fleet and present results at relevant conferences
• Process and interpret data using industry standard geophysical interpretation software
• Adapting data collection procedures
• Actively keeps up to date with Data Science and Machine Learning advancements
• Maintain relevant documentations
• Interest and willingness to take Fleet Space Technologies to the depths & summits of the Earth, to the Moon & Mars, and beyond!

Key Skills And Required Experience

• Masters of Science in Mathematics, Computer Science, Geology/Geophysics or Physics – with foundational Bachelor’s (Tertiary) Degree is required; PhD is a plus but not required
• Experience in physical modeling of large systems and extracting unique information from data set
• Experience in developing algorithms to allow users to manipulate data a near real time environment
• Professional presentation and communication skills
• Strong writing skills
• Good analytical and interpretation skills
• Programming experience: Python, Matlab, and similar
• Familiarity with SaaS products and development a plus
• Experience in GeoPhysics a plus
• Global citizen with the willingness to travel for client/company visits, conferences and to other locations as needed
