The Director of Education Programming and Community Partnerships provides leadership, vision, and management of education programs and partnerships that advance the Fleet’s mission and strategic initiatives. This individual leads teams charged with supporting STEM learning ecosystems, connecting scientists and engineers with the public and building deep relationships with the many neighborhoods of San Diego County. As a member of the Senior Leadership team the Director of Education Programming and Community Partnerships works collaboratively with Fleet leadership across the organization to ensure the organization continues to meet the needs of the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage and assist teams responsible for programs which support and grow local STEM learning ecosystems, connecting scientists with the public and developing deep relationships with neighborhoods across the county.
Support the growth and development of direct and indirect reports while creating a workplace culture where everyone is valued.
Grow the impact of all departmental efforts through program innovation and development in line with organizational strategy.
Ensure that all programmatic efforts meet the needs of partner communities through regular evaluation and review.
Ensure that all programmatic efforts are administratively sound and financially sustainable through budget development, management and revenue generation including developing grant supported projects and reporting on grant project impacts.
Work collaboratively with other Senior Leadership to advance organizational goals and cross-departmental priorities.

Experience as a collaborative, empathetic leader.
A commitment to an inclusive, equitable workplace.
Minimum of five years of management experience in the science center or related informal education fields.
Demonstrated understanding of budget development and tracking as well as developing successful grant proposals.
Experience in teaching, facilitating or developing science experiences in formal and/or informal environments.
Track record of developing and maintaining relationships with community organizations.
