First Union Financial Hiring for Accounting Manager Job at Alachua, FL Full Time

We currently have an opening for Accounting Manager for our automobile dealership and automobile finance company in Gainesville FL. In this role you are responsible for supervising all Accounting functions and all accounting staff. You are also responsible to prepare or review and approve financial statements, tax returns, and other accounting reports for both companies, and provide assistance to the owner. The ideal candidate combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and has experience with collaborating and/or managing accountants or junior accountants.

The specific duties include but are not limited to:

• Perform, oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow management, general ledger, payroll and taxes

• Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance, and perform month-end, quarterly, and year-end close process

• Work with and help external accounting and auditing firm(s) with quarterly and year-end financial reviews and audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit.

• Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements

• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and other business and financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness

• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested

• Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions

• Monitor and evaluate performance in key business areas

• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships

• Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end

• Ensure that financial documentation is maintained in acceptable manner

Educational Requirements / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role

• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization

• Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results

• Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques

• Proficient with Microsoft Office software.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems.

• Experience with Accounting SW, i.e. Quickbooks / QuickBooks Online.

• Good presentation and analytical skills. Ability to focus and effectively work on multiple projects.
