Responsible for coordinating and maintaining a reliable accounting information system that properly reflects the position of the Company and its subsidiaries. Should have comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Supervises staff and functions and ensures adherence to internal controls and department procedures and policies. Utilizes complex and, often, confidential information to perform high level accounting analysis and to prepare complete and accurate financial reporting. Senior level role reporting directly to the CFO.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting
- Manage journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations, balancing and invoices on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Fixed asset/depreciation
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy
- Business Unit and Branch accounting
- Internal financial reporting for all business lines (Axiom)
- Variance and Financial analysis
- Board reports
- Actuals vs Actuals
- Actuals vs Budgets
- Yield reports
- Assist with external auditors on support requests for quarterly reviews and annual audit
- Repurchase Agreement Pledging
- Accounts Payable management for all business lines
- Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Integration/Mapping
- Captive Group Insurance project and ongoing risk management
- Provide subordinates with leadership by setting objectives, delegating where necessary, having progress conversations, hiring and developing staff
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- MBA and/or CPA required
Experience:
- Minimum of five years experience in a publicly traded company, financial institution or public accounting
Skills:
- High professional level of knowledge of accounting.
- High level of interpersonal skills so as to effectively communicate complex accounting/tax issues to employees, management and external service providers.
- Good analytical skills in order to analyze financial and procedural data.
- Adequate knowledge of both internal policies and procedures and the respective state and federal laws and regulations governing accounting functions to ensure performance of job duties within the proper control environment.
