The Opportunity

Findex are currently looking for a Graduate Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a permanent, full-time role, with the flexibility to be based anywhere in Australia for the right person.

This role assists the Financial Control team in preparing management reports, maintaining the balance sheet and tax compliance obligations.

As a Graduate Accountant, you will have a strong customer focus and be committed to high quality service delivery, performing assigned accounting and administrative tasks accurately and on time.

The role will develop relationships with all teams within the broader finance function, including; Accounts Payable, Payroll, Brokerage, Business Performance and Group External Reporting.

The finance team has made considerable transformation improvements in recent years, and this role will continue to assist with improvements into the future.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Complete weekly banks rec accurately and on time, resolving any reconciling items promptly
• Preparation of monthly journals in line with policy and timetable
• Fully Transparent Balance Sheet reconciliations, raising any issues with the Financial Control Manager
• Provide support to the Business Performance team to finalise month end reports
• Provide support to other Financial Control teams (AP, Payroll, Brokerage) as required
• Be a trusted adviser to other corporate functions and the wider business
• Assistance provided to the Group External Reporting team and External Audit as requested
• Assist in preparation of BAS and FBT returns for AU and NZ
• Identification of control issues for discussion and resolution with Financial Controller

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills & attributes:

• Recently graduated with a relevant degree such as Business or Commerce, majoring in Accounting
• Experience in a related accounting role (desirable, but not essential)
• Excellent Communication Skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills – minimum VLOOKUP, SUMIF etc
• Knowledge of accounting standards and tax legislation (AU and NZ)
• Experience using accounting software (Ideally MYOB Advanced, APS, Concur)
• Self-motivated and keen to learn
• Collaborative team player
• Positive and proactive
• Ability to work independently and seek guidance when required
