Job Brief: This position, which reports to the Credit Controller, provides accounting expertise and value-added analysis to client managers and associates in various lines of business and other support areas. Monitors and quantifies possible impact of proposed accounting guidance.

Essential Job Functions:

· Actively involved in analyzing and reviewing transactions and new business products and strategies proposed or developed by the lines of business or others within company and independently assesses adherence to applicable accounting guidance and internal controls.

· Proactively involved with clients in assigned area(s) of responsibility (for example, fair value measurements) through internal networking and periodic meetings to ensure timely and prompt identification and resolution of accounting issues.

· Analyzes proposed FASB, SEC and regulatory accounting guidance and prepares a response, usually documented in a comment letter, that details company’s views for various regulators.

· Independently implements new accounting and disclosure guidance, in conjunction with the lines of business or others within company who are impacted, to ensure proper compliance with the requirements.

· Assists in the preparation of company’s Forms 10-K and 10-Q.

· Participates actively in various external groups to share common information and influence and educate accounting standard setters particularly regarding issues that impact company.

· Prepares thorough documentation to support accounting research performed and conclusions reached.

· Utilizes the Project System for tracking projects to ensure proper and timely documentation of work performed.

· Suggests enhancements in department processes and procedures to increase efficiency and/or improve customer service.

· Consults with external auditor on research issues when necessary to enhance efficiency of required audit work related to these issues.

· Assists with various aspects of the yearly audit.

Required Qualifications:

· 6-7 years of public accounting or related work experience

· Working knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and SEC reporting guidance

Certified Public Accountant

· Ability to work collaboratively with clients in the lines of business and other support areas, external auditors, and other team members

· Strong oral and written communication skills

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting

Preferred Qualifications:

· Previous accounting research experience

· Work experience in the financial services industry

· Master’s degree in accounting, finance or a related area

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year
