Software Test Analyst
Are you an experienced Software Test Analyst, who can make sure our software updates and changes are ready to be used by our people?
Contract: permanent
Salary: £52,000 to £60,000
Location: London, Docklands – Currently our entire team is working remotely however from September we will be introducing our new hybrid way of working – a split between remote and office working. There will be an expectation that we will gradually return to the office, and from 1st January 2022, we will have fully established our new hybrid way of working, with us all working at least four days in the office across the fortnight. At the Financial Ombudsman Service, we make decisions on a range of complex and difficult issues. Every year we resolve hundreds of thousands of disputes between consumers or small businesses and their financial service providers – and if we believe a customer hasn’t been treated fairly, we can step in to put things right.
The testing (QA) team play an important role in supporting, developing and providing solutions for our corporate applications – enabling us to effectively deliver services to our customers and staff. As a software test analyst, you’ll deliver technical testing using both manual and automated techniques on the systems we run, making sure they are developed at a high level of quality, on a project by project basis.
You’ll be involved in working on new features and updates to a range of applications, working with colleagues in the development teams, as well as wider stakeholders, to uncover and resolve bugs before they can cause issues for our customers. Working as part of an agile development team you’ll be involved in more than just testing – you’ll be part of a team effort to achieve agreed sprint and release goals.
Ultimately your role will be crucial to ensuring our business-critical applications are robust and fit for purpose , so you’ll need to play an active part throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Reporting to – QA test manager
Working hours – full time is 35 hours a week. You’ll agree your working pattern with your manager.
The purpose of your role
The Business applications team play an important role developing and supporting our business applications, in turn enabling us to effectively deliver services to customers and colleagues. As a software test analyst, you’ll deliver technical testing using both manual and automated techniques on the systems we run, making sure they’re developed at a high level of quality, robust and fit for purpose.
You’ll be involved in delivering new features and updates for a range of applications, with accountability for policing the quality of the code that is developed. Working as part of a close-knit team, you’ll be responsible for working with colleagues to achieve agreed sprint and release goals, in turn helping us progress along our change roadmaps.
You’ll also be working with colleagues to enhance our test automation capability, develop skills and gain understanding of best practices across a variety of technologies.
