The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated principal software engineer with focus on capacity and performance analysis who can support our digital applications in multiple ways such as capacity analysis, observability, anomaly detection, CI / CD build out, analysis, and application development. The team focus will be on stability of entire eco-system. The outcome of this role will elevate the efficiency and speed at which Fidelity not only delivers stable products but delivers quality to our customers.
The Expertise You Have

Understanding of critical production applications and their infrastructure dependencies to monitor, analyze and discover anomalies.

Deep knowledge of application request rates, transactions per second, client volumes to plan for adequate capacity to handle future growth

Knowledge of SLI/SLO/SLA definitions and golden signals for critical applications. Understanding of telemetry, anomaly detection and observability.

Skills in end-to-end development of reports and interactive dashboards with impactful visualizations in BI Publisher and/or Tableau

Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, Team Quest, Metric beat, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana etc)

Good knowledge of Virtualized environment operations characteristics – VMware/vSphere, OpenStack

Solid understanding of modern application configurations and frameworks. Exploring new trends in automation area and deploying in day-to-day activities.

In depth understanding of application modernization; microservices, API’s, etc.

Shown knowledge of AWS and Azure Cloud compute and storage services. AWS certification is a plus.

Keen focus on process to improve performance, presenting innovative recommendations, and implementing resolutions across the team

Able to explain complicated or technical information in a simple way to non-technical audiences

Experience as a developer (e.g., Java, Python, Perl, SQL) a plus

Leads the outcome by taking personal accountability for delivering strong results

Actively seeks challenges, willing to take initiative and pragmatic

Passionate about crafting the best end-to-end customer experience

Excellent analytical problem-solving skills, has keen attention to detail and wants to tackle really hard problems, not just detect them

Able to work with remote and international team members

8+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 6+ years with a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
The Team
The Engineering Efficiency and Assurance (EE&A) chapter resides in the Personal Investment (PI) business unit of Fidelity Investments. The chapter consists of over 245 multi-stacked engineers with a passion around customer experience and with the engineering tool set to seek challenges including: Automated testing, performance testing, chaos testing, application cloud migration and management, CI / CD implementation, security testing and application development. The chapter’s support spans across all of PI and provides domain specialists to squads who develop products with the highest customer quality, security, stability, and experience.
