Our People team is expanding! We’re excited to be looking for our first Talent & Development Lead, who will work out of either our People Hub, based in Newcastle Upon Tyne or our Central London Functional Hub, based in Bond Street.
About Talent and Development Lead
Here at Fenwick, we feel that seeing the intrinsic link between attraction, selection of candidates and learning and development is essential to the success of our overall people strategy, and this role offers the opportunity to showcase a best-in-class approach to both.
You will enjoy driving the development of others and will demonstrate how that starts at the attraction stage. You will have rich experience in learning and development practices and have produced programmes and initiatives allowing you to be ready to go in this role. You will demonstrate that you can work as an internal consultant on all Recruitment, Retention, Learning and Development opportunities and be a role model in stakeholder management. You will live ‘Respect and Work Together’ as well as challenging others and ‘Owning and Delivering’ your promises. You will be focused on developing and delivering our people strategy in line with the needs of the business, bringing a best practice and a ‘Customer First’ commercial lens.
As our Talent and Development Lead, you will build the infrastructure to enable us to successfully hire, retain and grow our talent in all areas and at all levels, you will be just as passionate about the development programs for our Sales Advisors and Warehouse Operatives as you are for C Suite. You will bring an enthusiasm to programs for internships, apprenticeships and academies and be thrilled at the opportunity to build programs from the ground up. You will thrive working collaboratively and at pace and will ‘Keep It Simple’ taking unnecessary complexity away.
You will enjoy developing and implementing structured training through the use of LMS in which you have experience of building learning workshops and courses.
You will be innovative with how we recruit our talent being open minded to new platforms and ideas as well as bringing an excellence to delivery. You will be curious about (if not experienced) in using global grading systems. You will collaborate with our Comms & Engagement Lead on all things EVP and build a framework to ensure our LinkedIn representation is engaging, relevant and consistent.
You will enjoy interpreting data from several sources and it alongside information from external sources and networking to drive fresh thinking and innovation. You will have a growth mindset and be able to work in a VUCA environment. You will lead and inspire three direct reports (which may grown in the future) and will be keen to develop them as well as role modelling the importance of honest, regular and feedback. You will have a good grasp of what it takes to be a High-Performance Cultures and have clear ideas on how to build them and take colleagues with you with a focus on engagement, motivation and great communication.
Lastly, you will consider yourself to be open to learning and new opportunities, you will enjoy feedback and be inspired by seeing others succeed. You will see setbacks as an opportunity for growth, you will embrace challenges and enjoy achieving as a team.
What’s in it for you?
When you join Fenwick, you’ll join our ever-growing family. As well as the opportunity to take the reins of Talent team, you’ll receive 25 days annual leave (plus 8 bank holidays), up to 25% discount in all of our stores and on www.fenwick.co.uk, Christmas shopping never felt so easy! You’ll be able to work from home every Thursday and Friday and we’ll also give you an additional day off for your birthday. We’ll give you piece of mind with life admin, you’ll have the opportunity to join our pension scheme and take advantage of a free Medical Cover membership.
You’ll join us as at exciting time, as Santa returns to our Northumberland Street rooftop revealing the, as ever, top secret Fenwick Christmas Window.
We offer a salary of £55k-£65k, dependant on experience and location.
So, now you’re really interested?
If you feel you can deliver what we need but you don’t have all of the experience, please do message me, I’d be happy to chat through your experience and discuss the role in more detail. This is purely a guide, and you may well have skills not listed here that could add value. Diversity and Inclusion are important to us, so we encourage your application and in the spirit of our value of ‘Be Bold and Courageous’ you’ll never know until you try! We have an assessment for the role in mind and of course we will be exploring if we are aligned in values (as well as celebrating your individuality) but we are also open to ideas about how you would like to best demonstrate your competence, passion and vision for the future.
