Job Summary

The Director of Finance is responsible for all aspects of the accounting processes including financial reporting, general ledger, and the supporting subsidiary systems, processes, and internal controls associated with fixed assets, billing, accounts receivable, payroll, and accounts payable. The Director of Finance is also responsible for the timely filing of various local, State, and Federal reports associated with taxation, reimbursement, and regulatory compliance and provides oversight to Accounting, Business office staff and other staff as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Functional Expertise and Leadership:

• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Issue timely monthly financial reports for use by Felician Village Executives, Board of Directors, and various department heads
• Account for: General Ledger, General Ledger Transactions, Cash and Investments, Fixed Assets/Capital Projects/Depreciation, Deferred Revenue/Entrance Fees/Amortization, Property Taxes and cost Analysis
• Oversee daily functions relative to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Manage and preparation annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting.
• Represent at various meetings and functions and participate on committees as appropriate
• Promote QAPI initiatives and concepts throughout all levels of department and the organization
• Actively participate in multidisciplinary QAPI activities and/or PIPs to represent department perspective
• Provides excellent service to internal and external customers of Felician Village.

Staff Management/Development:

• Direct the recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, development, evaluation and discipline of qualified staff
• Provide coaching, direction and leadership support in order to achieve business and customer results
• Create, foster and promote a positive working environment ensuring high morale and staff retention

Policy and Procedure Management:

• Develop and update policies and procedures; evaluate policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
• Ensure internal guidelines are documented and understood in accordance with applicable standards and practices.

Quality and Performance Improvement:

• Plan and assess current operations to ensure alignment with Felician Village’s goals and to identify opportunities for performance and process improvements. Collaborate with other departments as needed.
• Implement new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Develop, implement and oversee systems to ensure compliance with all federal, state, accreditation, and local regulations

Budget and Resource Administration:

• Participate in annual budget preparation and administration; exercise cost control to stay within budget; approve expenditures; identify variances and develop action plans.

Will perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor Degree from four-year College required
• Master’s degree in Finance, Business of other related disciplines preferred.
• 7 or more years in accounting, ideally beginning in public accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and board members;
• 5 Years accounting and finance experience in a controller or Director of Finance role.
• Non-Profit and/or For-profit and senior living industry experience is preferred.
• CPA license preferred;
• Strong computer system skills; highly proficient in Excel/Word/Powerpoint

Physical/Mental Requirements:

Work requires high attention and mental demands, including the ability to prioritize and process information with accuracy and clarity. Requires the ability to walk regularly, lift/carry 10 pounds maximum, 1-2 pounds frequently. Hearing and vision compensated to a functional level that is required to meet the essential functions of the job. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment as necessary.
Working and Environmental Conditions:
Normal office or administrative working conditions with little or no exposure to undesirable elements. Some travel may be required. Must have access to an automobile, appropriate insurance, and valid driver’s license for off-campus meetings.
