Federal Court of Australia Hiring for APS 6 – System Engineer – Patch Management – Linux Job at Sydney Full Time

As the Patch Management Engineer, you be working closely with our security team and providing updates on the current state.

You will be responsible for investigating what impact could be introduced by installing out of band patches.

Duties:

• Perform Patch management tasks include: maintaining current knowledge of available patches, deciding what patches are appropriate for particular systems, ensuring that patches are installed properly, testing systems after installation, and documenting all associated procedures.
• Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network, software, and system engineers, PC desktop technicians, project managers, end users, and customer and IT management.
• Support multiple networks. Ensure necessary administration tasks are completed; direct others as necessary.
• Analyze internal or external customer requirements and determine equipment and software requirements for solutions to problems by means of automated systems.
• Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
• Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.
• Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.
• Experience with SUSE Live Patching for patching.
• Work closely with the security team to remediate any outstanding vulnerabilities.

Selection Criteria

• Patch Management & Patch Automation experience
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware in a networked environment.
• Windows Server Environment Active Directory and Group Policies.
• Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems including: SUSE Linux, Oracle Linux, OpenSUSE
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with little or no assistance.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
