With a passion for technology, you’ll start your journey towards becoming a Software Test Analyst with remote training located at one of our UK academies. Whether or not you have an IT background we will provide you with the free training and mentoring that you’ll need to succeed. Following the training, you’ll provide professional consultancy services to one of our 200 clients across the UK including Barclays, British Airways, HSBC & Save the Children. Support is paramount to FDM and our Consultants, you’ll have the chance to gain industry recognised qualifications, mentoring and constant development.

As a Software Test Analyst, you will assure the quality of systems and software applications. You will be involved in finding and eliminating issues with the product while working alongside the software development team. You will be involved in creating test procedures and using various tools to ensure that the quality and performance meets expectations.

Role and Responsibilities:

Software Test Analysts are heavily involved in all phases of an IT project which makes testing an excellent field for people interested in developing skills related to all aspects of projects and delivery.

As a Test Analyst you would be responsible for the following:

• Reviewing software requirements to ensure they are clear to all aspects of the business
• Working closely with business analysts to determine the scope of testing on projects
• Working closely with developers to identify unit tests that could be done on their code
• Creating automated tests to support build verification activities
• Creating and executing tests to check the functionality of the software works as expected
• Raising issues with the development team when the application does not behave as expected
• Working with business stakeholders to identify the priority and severity of defects raised
• Re-testing defects that has been fixed by the development team
• Working with the support team to identify workarounds and solutions for production issues

Required Skills:

• Analytical and logical thinking – The ability to think about how the software will be used and identify all the different tests that could be run to validate functionality
• Curiosity – Thinking about the variety of different approaches that could be taken in an effort to break the software i.e. what will happen in the application when I try doing this obscure action?
• Professional Pessimism – The ability to see the negative aspects of software no matter how high in quality it seems
• Communication Skills – Testers are involved throughout the software development lifecycle so will need to be able to communicate their thoughts and ideas to all different types of people
• Technical Skills – Test analysts are often asked to become involved in more technical testing activities such as performance testing, automated testing, security testing and so on

What we are looking for:

• Minimum – 2.2 bachelor’s of honours degree
• Determination to build a successful career in IT and business
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environments
• Able to commit to work with FDM for a minimum of 2 years
• Geographically flexible throughout the UK to support with client demand
