Fawkes & Reece South Looking for Site Engineer at Yeovil, Somerset Full Time

A civil engineering and earthworks contractor are recruiting a Site Engineer to work on a £12m earthworks package for a major project upwards of £150m in the South West. The business are currently delivering work on some of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects like HS2 and the final aspects of the A14 but are now growing on their permanent set-up in the South West with a steady work flow secured through highways frameworks and other highway projects.

The project is underway with a large embankment stabilisation happening through the winter before the next large phase earthworks begins in March as the weather improves. Further work will include roundabout junction improvements, temporary access roads, section 278 works, drainage and associated street furniture. The Site Engineer will ideally have a minimum of 12 months’ site experience in a highways or civil engineering environment.

Ideally you will have a minimum of HNC/HND Civil Engineering and experience of working on highways or civils projects.

Site Engineer duties include:

• Setting out roadworks, earthworks and abutments with surveying equipment (GPS & Robotic Total Stations)
• Manage all engineering activity providing direction to the direct workforce and subcontractors
• Quality control to ensure the standards are met in accordance to the design specifications
• Assist in producing permits to break ground (CAT Scanning management)
• Ensuring the highest health, safety and environmental standards are met on site adhering to the client’s and business’s requirement
• Liaise with the site team to approve materials ensuring they meet specification
• Keep accurate records of progress reports, site diaries and resource allocations
• Produce as-built drawings in AutoCAD
