Fawkes & Reece South Looking for Section Engineer at Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset Full Time

A major construction and civil engineering company is recruiting a Section Engineer for projects up to £15m in Devon & Somerset. The business deliver highways and rail projects upwards of £100m for Highways England, Network Rail, Local Authorities as well as securing work on major projects like Crossrail.

The South West region has a good order book and you’ll have the opportunity to get involved on projects from start to finish. These projects compromise of platform extensions, a flagship footbridge, public realm work and a complex road bridge replacement over the rail line.

As a Section Engineer you must have technical background and experience of setting out in a civil engineering environment. Ideally you will have a minimum of a HNC/HND and may already be chartered or are currently working towards becoming a chartered engineer – the business have excellent training agreements in place and encourage/support your development.

Section Engineer duties:

• Managing junior members of the team on a day-to-day basis
• Direct gangs and subcontractors to achieve maximum output/efficiency
• Quality control to ensure the standards are met in accordance to the design specifications
• Assist in producing permits to break ground (CAT Scanning management)
• Ensuring the highest health, safety and environmental standards are met on site adhering to the client’s and business’s requirement
• Liaise with the site team to approve materials ensuring they meet specification
• Keep accurate records of progress reports, site diaries and resource allocations
• Produce as-built drawings in AutoCAD
