The Role

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our development team who will work with a team of experienced, talented and enthusiastic multi-platform engineers who pride themselves on ensuring a quality software codebase through a well-considered architecture and emphasis on testing coverage. This role is for an engineer to work on the Fatsoma web app, further developing our product both in terms of customer features as well as the underpinning services. You’ll be someone who takes pride in their work, testing continuously to ensure your code quality is high. We hope to find someone who shares our passion for creating products which deliver exceptional experiences for our customers.

The Person

• Based within 2 hours of the UK timezone (We are not currently offering sponsorships)
• Sound understanding of web technologies – HTML, Javascript, CSS
• Experience using Ruby
• Experience using or willingness to learn the Go programming language (https://golang.org/)
• Adheres to the principles of agile development and clean coding, with an emphasis on testing, continuous delivery and technical excellence
• A passion for web technology and digital products
• Self-motivating and able to continually learn and improve themselves
• Communicate well with peers to reach stretch goals for the team.

Our Purpose

Fatsoma is on a mission to transform the way events and local hospitality businesses engage customers and grow their businesses. We do this through our “Connected Commerce” platform which helps businesses build direct relationships with their best customers so they can keep them up to date with what’s happening at their venue.

What problem does it solve?

Many businesses rely on social media as their primary marketing channel. The problem with this is in order to reach people, even their own followers, they have to pay for ads as it’s the algorithms that decide who sees what. Fatsoma provides a direct channel, empowering our clients to build direct connections to their customers.

Why are we passionate about this?

We believe in empowering businesses to take control of their communications and giving customers a way to keep up to date with their favourite businesses. With Fatsoma there are no algorithms, you just unfollow if you don’t want to receive anything from that business again.
