Who We Are Seeking

To continue to extend our lead in the industry, Fatigue Science is looking to add a well-versed and multi-skilled engineering manager to the team. As a Manager of Software Engineering at Fatigue Science, you will be an integral part of a small and passionate engineering team, and will oversee our 5 different applications. The ideal candidate will embrace leadership, collaborative innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit. Leading teams on different aspects of the core product will involve a mix of front and back-end skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages staff and assigns tasks to engineering and technical personnel.
• Oversees project logistics and resource allocation
• Designs, implements, and refines product development, testing, and release processes
• Collaborates with other team leaders and departments
• Responsible for hiring software engineering team members
• Stay up to date with the latest front-end and full-stack development principles
• Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards
• May be involved in product and corporate strategy sessions
• Collaborate with product team and engineering team to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience
• Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
• Present and defend designs, key milestones, and deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
• Participate in engineering discussions and activities relating to long-term technical initiatives
• Leads teams in the development of new products, solutions, and processes.
• Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs, and to reduce waste.
• Secures the resources needed for teams to excel, including researching and proposing capital investments
• Helps to create and oversee project budgets and engages in cost management strategies
• Advocates on behalf of team members by securing adequate resources for success
• Communicates technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including current and potential customers
• Maintains high level expertise in their field or sector
• Responsible for some coding, as well as general oversight of code quality across applications

Skills and Qualifications

• Sc Computing Science, B.Eng Software Engineering, or equivalent
• 4+ years of experience developing mobile or web applications in an Agile environment
• Experience with React, Flutter, or Ruby on Rails is a plus.
• 2+ years of technical team lead experience
• 1+ years of multi-software team management experience
• Being proactive and able to work independently on projects, with strong communication skills

• Experience developing back-end applications using Rails, MySQL or similar technologies
• Mobile app development experience using Ionic, React Native, Flutter or other technologies
• CI/CD and Automated Testing experience a plus
