Family Recovery Center Hiring for Prevention Educator Job at Cadiz, OH Full Time

Job Description:

Prevention Educators will work with county schools to provide prevention education and will coordinate pro-social activities aimed at students to promote healthy life-style choices. Educators will perform a variety of duties to contribute to the effective functioning of the education department’s in-school prevention education program, as well as, other prevention projects directed at schools and community at-large.

Cross-training will occur with the following job duties:

• Research, learn, and instruct evidence-based curriculum to empower students to make healthy choices.
• Develop good standing relationships with county schools including administration, staff, and students.
• Collaborate with other county agencies and partners to work on alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) prevention/education projects, in schools and in the community.
• Identify and schedule events to set up informational table and to distribute ATOD information. Ie: back to school events, fairs, community events, and other appropriate events.
• Participate in community coalition work, in accordance with the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF).
• Work as a team member in organizing Family Recovery Center sponsored prevention/education campaigns and out-reach events.

• Internal and community work with limited exposure to weather conditions; some exposure to weather conditions when traveling between school locations.
• Bending or stooping; lifting or reaching to retrieve or store materials weighing 20 pounds or less.
• Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read a variety of documents; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment; sitting for extended periods of time; reaching horizontally or above the shoulders to store or retrieve materials.

• Create monthly reports for various programs
• Grant writing skills is a plus, but not required.

• Requirements
• Full Time Position, must be available to work nights and weekends when needed
• Bachelor’s degree preferred (or working toward bachelor in education, social work, psychology, or related field).
• 1 year of experience in a behavioral healthcare, prevention work, or in an educational setting.
• Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist (OCPS) certification recommended, but not required at time of interview. Upon hire, must be willing to obtain the appropriate State of Ohio certification.

Pay: $38,000.00 – $42,000.00 per year
