Job Description: The Family Office CFO will manage and oversee the primary office functions of: accounting, insurance, human resources, property, real property management and the philanthropic goals of the family. The role will Report directly to the family principle. The family is looking for a seasoned CFO with experience managing a complex family office.

Position is with a high-net-worth family in Reno that includes personal and various active and passive entity activities. The organization is growing and expanding activities. This position is to oversee and manage the family office and other employees. The ideal candidate will be an experienced multi-tasker with strong communication skills (verbal & written) and have a background and interest in accounting/financial management and or legal. This individual must understand the importance of keeping information confidential and must be willing to support the mission of the multi-generational family. Additionally, successful candidates will:

• Develop and manage the financial team that will position the family for future growth
• Develop and execute communication strategies for both internal and external audiences
• Complies with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations including GAAP
• Supervises employees by planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
• Minimum __ years of consulting or corporate/operational finance experience; ranching and commercial real estate industry preferred

Job Qualifications:

• CPA with 5 years’ experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
• Entrepreneurial background with an MBA or experience preferred
• Understanding of Nevada and Federal Payroll Tax reporting requirements.
• Able to comfortably deal with complex multi-level problems and legal topics.
• Experience with active real estate investments and passive entities is beneficial.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to details required.
• Highest standard of professional conduct, ethics, and integrity.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Insure monthly, within 9 days of month end, the consolidated financial report is completed. Analytical reports from financial report need to be written or compiled.
• Review and validate those expenses are in line with budgets and follow controls.
• Complete some tax returns inhouse and prepare others for out of house review along with tracking all tax compliance issues.
• Correlate necessary investment and strategy meetings, including follow-up action plans after each meeting.
• Human Resource duties include follow through on staff utilizing the employee handbook, and complete small company HR needs including insurance, annual reviews, adherence to contracts, etc.
• Annual efficiency review for areas of improvements can be made.
• Review of capital expenditures and possible retirement of capitalized items as well as maintaining family liquidity.
• Set up and ensure annual estate and trust meetings with internal and external teams occur with appropriate follow up.
• Follow through on process of online Bank Bill Pay as appropriate for multiple entities.
• Provide source documentation and financial reports for annual tax preparation.
• Create and update other spreadsheets with financial information, as necessary.
• Maintain a coherent record keeping system with appropriate documentation.
• Create and maintain written procedures for all functions regularly performed.
• Source and help in delivery of philanthropic goals of family, including the continued education of values to the next generation.

Compensation: Based on experience. Additional opportunities to Co-Invest in direct placements may be available.

Experience:

• 5 to 10 years in a small business environment or in a smaller CPA firm.
• Multiple employers preferred.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree with Masters in Accounting/ MBTAX and/or an MBA or JD would be outstanding.
