About The Role

We are seeking an innovative, future thinking Head of Student Records, to lead the Student Records team in the delivery of core student operations in support of the student journey. The Head of Student Records will manage and lead the team in the effective delivery of operational services to support the collection, storage, processing, reporting and analysis of the core student record dataset and curriculum configuration within SITS, our student information system, ensuring high data quality is maintained and efficient processes are put in place in support of the student journey from course enrolment to award.
The role will have a key focus on data quality being at the forefront of the service, ensuring data accuracy, timeliness and integrity of the core student record within SITS to ensure effective operation of downstream systems, that internal reporting requirements can be met, and that accurate data is provided for our external student data returns (i.e. student HESA return, HESES, aggregate offshore return), working with key stakeholders as appropriate to gather the relevant data and approvals as necessary.
The postholder will ensure service excellence is provided to all students, staff, collaborative providers and externals through a commitment to user experience design, ensuring processes are streamlined, efficient and effective, and making best use of technology to enhance and support daily operations. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-growing institution, with large diversification aims. With a varied portfolio of both on-campus, online and delivery through collaborative providers, it provides a diverse challenge in operationally meeting the future needs of the University for a team that supports the backbone of the student journey operations.


About You

This is a fast-paced and demanding role that will look to drive student operational processes forwards to meet the needs of our 2030 Strategy through future thinking, creative use of technology, data analytics and user driven service delivery. We are looking for an individual who has the passion, energy and commitment to drive this forward to create a service fit for 2030.
The successful candidate for this role will have experience of the higher education sector in a similar role, line management experience and strong skills in data, systems and analytics, with a data quality mindset. We require a candidate who is an excellent communicator that is able to work effectively across the University with a variety of stakeholders. You’ll need to be a pro-active ‘team player’, great at managing your time and demanding priorities, and have a drive to challenge process with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Alongside these core qualities we are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:
  • Experience of using SITS as a super user in a student administration/operations role.
  • Well-evidenced knowledge and understanding of the student journey within higher education.
  • Experience of creation and management of data, databases, reporting, analytics and records/information management.
  • Demonstrable experience of service delivery, design and service excellence.
  • Strong digital skills, in particular in the use of O365 (particularly Excel, MS Teams, MS Forms, Outlook).
  • High level of skill in preparing complex data sets for data returns and reporting for senior management or as a part of third-party statutory regulations.
This is a full time, permanent position working across Monday-Friday. Although a campus presence is required we are able to offer a hybrid working arrangement for this role.
