Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation Hiring for Accounting Specialist Job at Madison, WI Full Time

Essential Job Functions:

• Review, process, gather, and compile journal entries and accompanying documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
• Identify and resolve incorrect journal entries, data anomalies, unusual issues, and any other deviations from established procedures
• Answers accounting related questions
• Corresponds with employees, managers, and corporate departments as needed to complete all assigned tasks
• Assists with the month-end and year-end close process by completing all assigned tasks within the allotted time
• Responsible for month-end reconciliation of various general ledger accounts
• Reporting of assigned daily, weekly, and monthly performance indicators
• Identify, prioritize, and resolve accounting issues by looking beyond the stated situation in order to find the underlying issues

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Independent worker with strong work ethic, self-motivation, and problem solving skills
• Solid knowledge and understanding of GAAP concepts and the ability to apply accounting skills
• Basic knowledge and understanding of the Mortgage industry
• Basic knowledge of accounting systems and the internet; computer literacy
• Ability to draft professional e-mails and reports
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences

Required Education and Experience:

• Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience
• 1+ years of related experience
• Demonstrated experience with attention to detail, written and oral communication, multi-tasking, and working in a team atmosphere adhering to strict deadlines
• Demonstrated experience with MS Office software products, Excel formulas, and 10 keypad
• Demonstrated experience learning and applying procedures quickly
