As a Software Developer Apprentice at Expedia Group, you will work within an agile environment to develop next-generation technologies through our web applications and e-commerce sites. We empower our development teams to create high-volume, scalable solutions working to iterate features quickly and efficiently at all phases of the software development lifecycle. Technical innovation is at the centre of what we do, from back-end supply to new user interfaces for more than 140 branded travel sites.

The apprenticeship programme runs over 18 months, kicking off with an industry-expert led 3-month bootcamp, followed by on-the-job learning in one of our technical teams, with full support and coaching.


What You’ll do:

  • Respond to queries via work approved tools (email, Slack, Excel, etc)

  • Work closely with your immediate team for questions and concerns; connect with your manager and dedicated navigator (buddy) to answer questions

  • Demonstrate an aptitude to learn and apply basic software engineering concepts like design principles, algorithms, and code composition

  • Learn on the job to participate in projects, implementing and executing technical requirements

  • Understand the basic business reasons for a given feature or project

  • Understand the major components of a team’s design by asking questions of teammates

  • Expand your skills in developing high quality, distributed, and scalable software

  • Provide quality implementation and testing of a component or feature with peer and manager support


Who You Are:

  • Must     have at least a grade of 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English


  • Must     have Level 3 qualification (A level, BTEC or equivalent)


  • Must     have three months’ prior coding experience


  • Must     have strong interest in technology and coding


  • Must     be enthusiastic and keen to learn!


  • Helpful     to have a curious mindset, always asking ‘why’


  • Helpful     to have basic knowledge of data structures, algorithms and OOP concepts


  • Helpful     to have the ability to learn new concepts quickly and share knowledge with others


  • Helpful     to have excellent, clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
