Position Summary and Responsibilities:

Working from home, Adjunct Instructors virtually manage subject-specific asynchronous online courses. Contract compensation is based on the individual course and the number of enrolled students. Instructors monitor student progress, evaluate and grade assignments and provide feedback to students. Online instructors provide student support through the use of email, telephone, the Canvas LMS, and various curriculum tools. Online instructors regularly consult with school administrative staff, students, and parents to ensure that each student successfully completes his/her online courses.

The Adjunct Instructors will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

• Instruct students, monitor student work, provide feedback, and suggest instructional approaches and strategies;

• Monitor completion of assignments in the given subject area;

• Grade assignments and projects in the given subject area;

• Communicate with school administration and counselors; report student issues and coordinate communication schedules;

• Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the curriculum (subject expert);

• Provide struggling students (and parents) with alternate strategies and additional assistance;

• Communicate with students, parents, and school administrators via the phone, email, asynchronous discussions, and synchronous “conferencing”;

• Complete professional development throughout the year; and

• Other duties as assigned.

The following qualities are important:

• Highly qualified to teach middle school, high school, and college-level courses (appropriate to grade level and subject responsibilities)

• Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS and MS Office)

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

• Customer service focused

• Ability to be flexible

• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

• Team player

• Experience with online education is a plus

• Completes required orientation and training programs at the beginning of the school year.

• Comply with all provisions of the 1099 contract

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $700.00 – $1,000.00 per month
