Evik Diagnostic Innovations Hiring for Lab Assistant at Kanata, ON Full Time

Evik Diagnostics Innovations is an Ottawa based ISO 13485:2016 certified manufacturer of rapid, single-assay, lyophilized beads for immunological and molecular diagnostics using dry reagent components. We are a high-volume manufacturer offering our customers unprecedented expertise in development, optimization, and validation with production quantities ranging from as little as 1000 beads to as many as 150,000 beads per day.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lab Assistant is responsible for working directly with the Lead R&D Scientist to provide support as required. The person in the Lab Assistant role will be involved in product development processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Adhere to current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Perform laboratory and manufacturing processes utilizing standard laboratory and production techniques and equipment to produce product samples for customers.

Communicate results and collaborate with other professionals in the lab.

Participate in writing, editing and proofing work instructions.

Collect and document all project data.

Process, organize and summarize data using a variety of word processing and spreadsheet software applications.

Perform related laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and cleaning equipment, ordering supplies, calibrating R&D equipment, and maintaining inventories of incoming materials and laboratory supplies.

Train production staff in bead manufacturing processes when research product is transferred to Manufacturing.

Other clerical, simple administrative duties, and shipping duties as required.

May instruct other staff and students in basic laboratory techniques.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent English language communication skills both written and oral.

Ability to work without direct supervision, paying close attention to detail and bearing independent responsibility for data accuracy.

Sound organizational and data management skills.

Ability to handle several responsibilities and work under tight time constraints.

Dedication to production quality and deadlines with a strong work ethic.

Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel, including basic functions and formulas.

Ability to work well as part of a team.

A positive attitude and professional appearance and manner.

May be required to lift, move and transport related laboratory equipment.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE

College Diploma or University undergraduate degree in the field of biotechnology, biochemistry or related field (required).

One to two years related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience).

Demonstrated ability in laboratory techniques (required).
