Eurofins Digital Testing (EDT Devices) practice in Bristol, builds software products – test harnesses and test materials – used in global conformance testing solutions by the broadcast, media, and consumer electronics industry. Our customers are typically in Europe, U.S. and Asia, and we work closely with them to develop our tools to address their requirements and make sure technologies used for modern TV and media app-based services are supported correctly and across a range of devices. We research the standards, and then develop and verify our professional tools, to be sold to broadcasters, TV operators, standards organisations, and consumer electronics manufacturers who are leading global brands.

THE ROLE:

• Shape the design of testing solutions and demonstrate a sense of ownership while collaborating with others
• Design, develop and update and improve our media creation toolchain and internal capability to serve up test materials for our products and customers
• Contribute to international organisations and standards development, particularly in testability and clarifying ambiguity
• Contribute to the global success of leading technology deployments, e.g., ATSC 3.0 “NEXTGEN TV” in the U.S. and Hybrid Broadcast Broadband (HbbTV) in Europe
• Mentor and develop our team with your unique expertise and experience and ensure quality is core to all we do in reviewing and checking our work

THE LOCATION:

Eurofins Digital Testing offices are based in Bristol City Centre. We are right next to Cabot Circus and many bars and restaurants. Our office is easy to commute to and has fantastic views over the city centre too. This area is a great place to live and work, with lots going on. Our team works in a hybrid mode: remotely and in the office through the week, as required, to facilitate collaboration and use of specialist lab equipment.

YOU NEED TO HAVE:

• Ability to critically analyse international technical media and broadcast standards and help contribute to discussions ensuring they are testable
• Proven agile software development experience (preferably Python, but competence in 1 high level language is sufficient) to help translate designs into products
• Experience or awareness of media standards (such as DASH, DVB, MPEG) and/or media tools (such as FFMPEG, GPAC)
