The Role:

This is a 6 month fixed-term contract to support the Finance team in meeting its BAU and project objectives, and to be the reliable first point of contact for inbound finance queries.

Responsibilities:

• Post accounts payable and bank transactions
• Process daily merchant settlements and other payments
• Reconcile bank accounts
• Invoice processing and reconciliation of aged creditors
• Post payroll and system journals
• Prepare and post month end and inter-company journals
• Prepare accruals / prepayments
• Prepare schedules for accountants
• Produce monthly budget variance
• Assist in production of management accounts
• Prepare month and year end payroll returns
• Submit payroll to outsourced provider
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Check all nominal balances at year end
• Prepare year-end journals
• Produce ad-hoc reports and provide analysis

Your skills and experience:

• Experience of working in a Finance team within industry or have relevant experience in practice (12-18 months experience).
• A good understanding of bookkeeping rules, with a desire to learn and acquire more responsibility.
• Moderate to advanced MS Excel skills, and a knack for automation and process improvement.
• Strong analytics skills and excellent attention to detail.
• You can do data analysis to support reconciliations and assist in profitability assessments.
• An adept and proactive communicator – able to build relationships at all levels, able to deal with others with tact and good judgment. Responsible, inclusive and approachable.
• Self-sufficient in determining work priority and completing assignments.
• Ability to multi-task and plan effectively.
• A proactive and pre-emptive problem-solving approach.
• Desirable – Financial Force accounting package (not essential – its ok if you have worked on a different system).

Professional qualifications:

• You have an undergraduate degree, and are looking to pursue ACCA / CIMA in the future.
• Alternatively, you are currently studying for CAT / AAT.

Salary: £25,000 per annum.
