Currently espresso is looking to expand its finance team to include a Financial Accountant on a full time basis. We need someone to help with preparing and optimizing espresso’s tax and other compliance in Australia and globally.


Key Qualifications

  • A relevant accounting degree
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant role
  • Strong understanding of what compliance means for the business and what needs to be done
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advanced skills in Excel manipulation


You will:

  • Own compliance
  • Be self driven and able to identify any potential issues relevant to espresso’s compliance
  • Be organised and ensure all filings are done on time
  • Communicate strongly and collaborate with external and internal stakeholders of the business
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity as well as being forthcoming asking for help and show great levels of initiative.


Your main responsibilities will be:

  • International Tax compliance

    • Working closely with our European accountant to comply and file VAT returns in Europe
    • Navigating TaxJar to ensure accuracy and file Sales Tax returns in the USA
  • Australian Tax Compliance

    • Ensure accuracy and prepare BAS statements for Australia
    • Work with our external accountants on annual tax returns
  • Grant compliance

    • Work with our external accountants and relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance to EMDG grant conditions.
  • Working with relevant stakeholders, develop and implement reliable and efficient recording and maintenance of R&D expenses to be claimed on R&D grant.
  • In collaboration with the rest of the team and external bodies to set up and manage other applicable grants and applications.
  • Compliance to EPR (recycling) laws in Europe and as it emerges
  • Reviewing financial statements for tax inaccuracies
  • Other ad hoc work as requested
