POSITION SUMMARY:

ESI is hiring for a full time Dean of Students for our client school in Toledo, OH. The Dean of Students is responsible for working closely with students, teachers, and parents to maintain a safe, positive school culture that promotes character and academic growth. As a school leader, the Dean of Students will work year-round to support the Mission of the school and the ideals of classical, liberal arts education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s degree preferred.
• Five years of classroom experience; experience working in a leadership role in education preferred.
• Commitment to model moral character in line with the school’s core virtues and the pursuit of the Good, True, and Beautiful.
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain and enforce school-wide behavior expectations and procedures for discipline.
• Track, report, and address behaviors and consequences.
• Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of student behavior plans.
• Attend appropriate meetings regarding student growth and success (IEP and 504 case conferences, parent meetings, expulsion hearings, etc.).
• Assist staff with the creation and alignment of classroom student behavioral expectations and classroom management plans.
• Enforce uniform compliance.
• Adhere to all NOCA policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies.
• Other instructional leadership responsibilities as assigned by the Head or Assistant Head of School.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL:

ESI is hiring for multiple positions for our client school in Toledo, OH. The school is Ohio’s first state-chartered, publicly-funded, independently-governed, tuition-free, classical school. It is part of the Barney Charter School Initiative of Hillsdale College, a network of classical charter schools united by curriculum and purpose. The school opened its doors in 2019, with 210 students in grades K-8, and has seen strong and steady growth. It now offers grades K-10, will add one additional grade each year through 12, and currently has 420 students along with a waitlist. The school is acquiring financing for a multi-million-dollar capital improvement and expansion project to break ground in Spring, 2022. It is a flourishing school with a passionate, dedicated teaching staff and families who value and enthusiastically support the school’s mission.
