ES Sutton Hiring for DESIGNER – Women’s Apparel at New York, New York Full Time

Sportswear Co. seeking a highly creative Designer to join our team.  Designer will be responsible for the design of multiple categories – create an assortment that is relevant to the brand and target customer for updated missy account. Candidate must design from initial concept to final execution.  Robust knowledge of knit & woven fabrics, garment construction is necessary to be successful in this role.  Must be able to react effectively in a fast-paced environment and be a team player.  

DESCRIPTION

The Designer executes the seasonal design development process, from concept to delivery, by creating and executing original, trend-appropriate design concepts that meet market needs and drive sales and ensuring the timely execution of each stage in the process.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Contribute to design research, design and development.

*Design original garments with consideration for price parameters.

*Sketch/ CAD full assortment 

*Create, maintain and distribute charts with Adobe Illustrator sketches to detail each style with all information regarding style and colors for each style.

*Determine appropriate styling and price structure based on knowledge of customer profile.

*Design, own, create and update tech packs; communicate with overseas factories to ensure information is accurately requested

*Design garments with the required aesthetic, quality, material and fit within price parameters.

*Identify and design key items

*Execute development of initial seasonal design category in context of larger assortment and cost structure

*Partner with managers in all aspects of product development

*Adhere to time and action calendar

*Responsible for lab dip, strike-off, bulk submit approvals.

*Attend fittings to ensure fit is appropriate for the brand and communicate any changes

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

*4-6 years’ experience in apparel design.

*Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design.

*Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented.

*Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, highly detail oriented, meticulous and creative.

*Creativity, technical capability and sensibility for merchandising; ability to sketch.

*Extensive knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, familiarity with print design and manufacturing.

*Must have extensive sweater knowledge.

*Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail

*Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and Browzwear is a PLUS.
