ERSG Ltd Looking for Civil Engineer at Ferrybridge, City and Borough of Wakefield Full Time

The Role
We are currently seeking a temporary role within the Thermal Engineering Civil Team providing engineering input to a diverse project portfolio including major construction projects, thermal generating plant and other emerging technologies.
Within the Civil Team you will become involved in the assessment of existing assets across the fleet and provide technical support and guidance covering high consequence civil assets including buildings, chimneys, cooling towers, bunkers, bunds and more.
Working closely with the operation teams, you will deliver value and contribute to the overall operational excellence of the business. This will require a practical approach with on-site plant inspection, as well as a strong mind for thorough and detailed analysis of engineering issues with the communication of the results of the assessment to various stakeholders.
This will offer the successful candidate quite a unique opportunity to become involved in the full life cycle from conception to decommissioning of large civil infrastructure.
Due to the pipeline of major projects that our client is currently delivering, it is likely that you will be involved in these also, in a technical review capacity and/or carrying out site visits and inspections.

Your Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will be educated to a minimum of degree level in Civil Engineering and have a comprehensive understanding of legislation, design and operational standards related to civil assets. Chartered or close to sitting your Chartership Professional Review is essential.
You will display excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will possess an innovative mind set, have a flexible approach and have the capacity to deliver high quality work on a consistent basis in a demanding environment. Although office based you will make frequent site visits and enjoy immense variety that few other company departments could offer due to our unique portfolio of civil assets.

Our Company
The Thermal Engineering and Asset Management (TEAM) section is a centralised function providing effective engineering and technology capability to support the safe operation of a diverse fleet of thermal generation and gas storage assets, whilst driving to secure sustained plant income through improved plant availability and performance.
We also provide TA and SQEP engineering capability for the Large Capital Projects (LCP), as well as for smaller projects directly for the stations.

Key Activities
For this role, these are the expected key activities that you will be responsible for, although it will inevitably extend beyond these as emerging workload dictates:
➢ Production of Asset Life Assessment integrity reports (ALA) for selected High Consequence Assets that are scheduled for inspection in 2021/22
➢ Attending to emergent civil and structural tasks as requested by the stations, which may have an urgent H&S implication
➢ Assistance with technical review of design packages provided by external companies (contractors and consultants) on the various LCPs, to deal with any peaks in overall team workload
➢ Site inspections and witness duties as required
➢ Provide civil engineering advice to other discipline teams as required, for multi-discipline activities and interface tasks
