Software Test Analyst

We are now looking to recruit a Test Analyst to help us extend our successful range of products. You will join a successful, relaxed and friendly team, and will have the opportunity to be involved in both automated and manual testing whilst working closely with the rest of the development team during design and development stages.

The Test Analyst reports to the Test Manager and works heavily with other test analysts / developers / BA’s / Product managers and third-party suppliers.

A DAY IN YOUR LIFE

During the design phase of a development cycle:

• Meeting with all the development team / product manager and BA to understand the scope of the development cycle
• Creating test approaches to cover what should be tested for a scope item by using use cases and requirements created by the Product manager
• Estimating test case preparation and execution time for scope items

During the preparation phase of a development cycle:

• Creating test cases in our test management tool for scope items
• Reviewing other test analysts test cases
• Addressing any test cases review issues raised through peer review and BA / Product manager review

During the Test Execution phase of the development cycle:

• Execution of test cases using our test management tool to track testing progress on delivered application builds from lead developer
• Execution of regression test cases on delivered application builds
• Logging of defects found during test execution
• Retesting of defects found once fixes have been deployed to the application build under test
• Creation of test reports using our test management tool which should be distributed to all involved parties once test execution has been completed

MUST-HAVES

• Analyse requirements and functional design specifications in order to define suitable test plans
• At least 5 years’ experience of testing, ideally web front end/web applications
• Proven record of design and requirement analysis
• Produce test scenarios, user stories and edge cases for regression, system and UAT testing in collaboration with a team of experienced developers
• Execute manual and automated Integration and System Acceptance tests
• Must have a methodical, pragmatic approach to testing, appreciating the broader picture of what is required to deliver a software product to multiple clients
• Work closely with Product and Project Managers to deliver quality products on time

Take on responsibility of lead tester on projects as applicable:

• Manage the assigned test team within a project
• Work closely with lead developer in shaping requirements and design
• Estimate, report and plan test activity and progress
• Manage and oversee the implementation of test cases
• Ensure the quality and reliability of software releases
• Completion of test approach documentation
• Document and escalate defects as appropriate

NICE-TO-HAVES

• Knowledge of the financial services industry, particularly in platforms, wealth management, pension administration and fund administration
• Good understanding of operations processes and systems
• Experience of testing of data cubes and testing of ETL processes
• Familiarity of web-based applications
• Understanding of web services
• Knowledge of SQL
• Automated testing experience in web service testing or UI test automation
