POSITION SUMMARY
The Supvr – Division Accounting supervises and assists with general accounting tasks which include period closings, reconciliations, and other projects as needed.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides assistance and oversight as appropriate to the following:
- Monthly close process & supporting activities.
- Maintains the P&L by ensuring that all costs are properly allocated and reported.
- Reviews and approves accounts payable SAP entries to ensure proper G/L, Cost Center and tax have been applied.
- Maintains amortization and depreciation schedules. Reviews asset life and depreciation rates. Ensures consistency and conformity to standards.
- Reviews and reconciles Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts.
- Assists in the maintenance of all Sarbanes Oxley documentation to ensure narratives are current and accurate.
- Completes all monthly reporting and assures accuracy and timeliness prior to submission. Including accounts receivable audits, inventory, labor, and intercompany.
- Advises management of the current financial state-of-affairs throughout the accounting period in order to provide necessary information for decision-making.
- Maintains necessary files to include current and valid sales tax exemptions, outside material requisition/purchase orders, customer pricing records, and similar information.
- Performs some of the following duties; entering billing purpose only orders and credit memos, assisting with quotations to customers, and developing and implementing a customer service training program for pricing.
- Reviews issues and receipts reports for accuracy before reporting to Division Controller.
- Reviews general ledger for coding discrepancies and missing accruals. Ability to offer insights into asset performance based on G/L review.
- Calculates inter-company billings and journal entries each month. Reviews supporting documentation and ensure all documentation meets industry standards.
- Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished. Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
- 6+ years of previous Accounting/Finance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
- High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
- Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
- Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
