EQUANS are recruiting for a HR Advisor (Schools) to be working for North Tyneside Council. This role can be remote or office based. This is a permanent full-time/part-time role working 32-37 hours per week. Hours per week can be offered as a between over 5 days with a working pattern being agreed with the successful candidate. On offer is a salary of £28,000 pro rata to £36,000 pro rata.
Working as part of the Schools HR team, we support agile working from home, client premises as well as our office base within the North Tyneside Council on the Cobalt Business Park. As a team we provide an efficient dedicated first line support to the leadership team members and where applicable the wider governing body/management board members within the School employers setting, on a wide range of HR policy and practice matters such as terms and conditions, employee relations, disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, reorganisation/ restructures, job evaluation, change management, employee engagement and performance management.
What will you deliver?
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will see the successful applicant:
Establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with client people managers including leaders/ senior leaders, business managers, head teachers and governing /management board members.
Providing effective and appropriate tailored HR advice and guidance which considers the setting, surrounding national and local sector specific guidance and as well as the requirements of good employment law and practice.
Supporting our Senior team with on-going service development and improvement which may include research, development, updating/ drafting policy, practice and guidance.
Providing Coaching and Training to client people managers as required, either as part of ‘point-in-time’ delivery development/ coaching or as part of wider training/ support – to include 121/ small groups or wider presentations to a more generic/ larger audience.
Providing general HR assistance and acting as the link between the HR team and Employee Services/ HR Administration as needed to support the Schools client.
Operating within an HR consultancy framework ensuring school employers are able to implement good people management policy and practice within their setting.
Working Hours and Pattern
The working hours for this post are based on term time plus working which equates to 39 school weeks, plus 4 weeks during school closure/holiday periods.
We invite applications from candidates who are able to work between 32 and 37 hours per week on an established basis over 5 days. We would work with the successful candidate to agree a working pattern that allows the needs of the team and the individual to be balanced, this may include a slightly later start/ earlier finish on one or more days, but the requirement to work 5 days for consistency of service for the Schools client remains.
Additionally, as part of the role we work flexibly outside of standard office hours (e.g., 9-5.30) to suit client needs with agreement; where this takes place, we ensure that any additional hours are balanced during the work week from a work/life/ wellbeing perspective and also ensure that time can be re-allocated at a time that is convenient to both employer/ employee.

Who are we looking for?
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Qualified CIPD member at Graduate level or above
Able to demonstrable post qualification (CIPD) experience
Knowledge of UK employment legislation and best practice
Previous experience of supporting case management and providing advice and guidance
Proven ability to work on own initiative and within a team
Strong ability to use coaching and influencing skills
Strong ability to communicate in person, telephone, email, letter, etc
Experience of gathering and presenting data
Practical approach to problem solving
Previous experience of working in the public sector, specifically a school setting would be an advantage
