Epiroc Careers Hiring for Design Engineer – Electrical at Garland, TX Full Time

You will be involved with R&D for electrification of mining drills, working with manufacturers on EV battery design and integration & supporting electronics including converters, inverters, filters, electric over hydraulic pumps, etc. This job covers concept development, prototype design, engineering lab testing, building prototype machines, and finally rig validation testing at a working mine site.

Responsibilities:

• Research and develop new concepts to find new and better ways to perform drill rig functions
• Maintain changes to existing AC & DC electrical systems on the drilling rigs
• Deliver design solutions related to low and high voltage electrical systems
• Work directly with suppliers to bring your design from concept to finished product
• Work with engineering technicians to build and perform engineering tests in a full size lab
• Responsible for the 3D CAD design and drawing detailing for parts/assemblies using 3D CAD software
• Release engineering changes through PLM system
• Provide technical support to production, planning, sourcing, quality, marketing, service, and aftermarket departments
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure designs meet technical and business objectives
• Complete technical calculations and analysis
• Research and follow applicable standards during the design process

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
• 0-4 years experience in electrical design or equivalent experience
• Proficient or want to become proficient with PTC Creo Parametric or equivalent 3D CAD software
• Understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Knowledge in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software Siemens Teamcenter or similar
• Understanding DC & AC calculations
• Exposure to heavy equipment manufacturing such as mining, construction, or agriculture
• Ability to compile and present technical data clearly and concisely
• Fundamental understanding of component theory of operation
• Self-starter that can work under minimal supervision
• Ability to generate creative solutions to problems and work in a fast-paced environment
