EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants Hiring for Client Manager (Surety) () Full Time

General Statement

Under the general direction of the Managing Director, Surety Division, Pacific North (EPIC), the Surety Account Manager shall perform and execute all required responsibilities to adequately manage and service the surety business for existing client base as well as any new surety clients.

The Surety Account Manager works directly with the Surety Account Executive based in Concord, management, clients, surety carriers, EPIC producers and staff to complete all tasks related to surety management. This includes but is not limited to the job functions listed below. The surety account manager will be one of the lead contacts in their territory for EPIC staff to contact for all inquiries related to surety.

This position serves both their surety clients and those within the organization that may not be familiar with the surety line of business. The surety account manager will offer guidance and technical expertise as it is related to the surety operation. As surety exists as a specialty line of business within the EPIC organization, the surety account manager will act as a liaison and consultant as needed. These broad responsibilities will be in addition to the technical tasks that are required to maintain the book of business and service new clients.

Job Functions

Function One

• Act as liaison and consultant within the organization for the surety line of business.
• Evaluate new bond requests for required underwriting information and determine the appropriate surety carrier based on appetite, bond requirements, credit worthiness, financial capability of the client and other surety underwriting guidelines as applicable.
• Work with client and surety carriers to communicate needs of both parties during the bond approval process and after.
• Maintain client and bond files as appropriate.
• Provide clients with information on surety requirements, rates, Obligee requirements, bond forms, underwriting and the life cycle of a bond transaction.
• Communicate effectively and directly with the surety carrier, acting as the surety client’s exclusive representative.
• Bond issuance and maintenance including but not limited to: bond preparation and execution, renewal processing, cancellations, overrun and underrun processing and invoicing.

Function Two

• Continual review of account files to maintain lines of authority.
• Contract review for bid bonds and final bonds.
• Full communication with clients and surety carriers to ensure compliance with various underwriting requirements as they specifically pertain to the surety line of business.
• Provide solutions for clients to increase bonding capacity and reduce rates as needed.

Function Three

• Serve as a mentor and back up to other surety staff and business units to ensure that succession planning is addressed, and applications/systems are utilized in an efficient and productive manner.

Function Four

• Attends training, seminars, webinars and self-directed training sessions to ensure that incumbent is technically proficient with relevant technology, trends and industry best practices.

Supervision Received

The Surety Account Manager s directly to the Managing Director, Surety Division, Pacific North. However, since the Surety Account Manager works at an advanced level in a specialty line of business, they work independently and require minimal daily supervision to complete their tasks and projects. They have full understanding of the work that is required but can reach out to the Director for guidance as needed. Day to day direction may come from the Surety Account Executive in Concord to complete outstanding tasks relevant to the Concord surety book of business.

Supervision Exercised

Currently, the Surety Account Manager works independently and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

5 years of Surety experience. Bachelors degree in business related field preferred, but not required.

The duties of this position evolve as needed. As the specific work product of surety are legal documents; knowledge of state, local and federal requirements for surety bonds is desirable.

Working Conditions

The Surety Account Manager position does not require overtime. As the Surety Account Manager works independently, management of their workload is dependent upon their time management skills. The advanced nature of this position coupled with the responsibilities to the clients, surety carriers and EPIC staff justifies Exempt status.

The national average salary for this role is $80k-$100k in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
