Job Title: Heritage Academy Program Director

Department: Instruction

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Instruction

Compensation Range: $70,000-$80,000

Location: Heritage Academy 507 I-35 Service Road

Summary:

The Heritage Academy Program Director will be a caretaker of the community design created for the Heritage Academy, including but not limited to the following pillars:

• End goal of biliteracy of all students using a dual-language curriculum serving both English speakers and Spanish speakers to access or maintain their Heritage language or to build a language skill

• Bilingual faculty and staff that both serve students and create strong relationships with parents as partners in education

• Integrated Latino studies curriculum that help make sure students see themselves reflected in history, art, music, and literature

• Culturally relevant curriculum where students have access to classes and education that are unique to their experience and help tie students back to heritage cultures

• Interfacing with Scissortail Community Development Corporation and other community organizations for wrap around services for Heritage Academy students and parents, including but not limited to Parent University (parents as partners in education) and Academia OKC extracurricular programs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Take inventory of the current best practices developed by current Heritage Academy teachers

• Aid in the recruitment and building of a new HA faculty team

• Create a common vision and support structure for bilingual teachers and paraprofessionals

• Maintain communication and build relationships with HA parents

• Manage schedules for the Blended Learning Center, including communication with facilities managers to ensure appropriate space is reserved for HA activities

• Coordinate with department leaders to ensure clear communication with various department heads to meet the needs of students, including special education principals, regular education principals, ELL and SPED department, learning fund department, curriculum department, multicultural department

• Gather data and develop processes to address the unique and specific needs of HA students

• Help identify or develop curriculum where there are noticeable gaps between what is needed and what is currently available

• Create culturally relevant family activities to increase engagement

• Create community partnerships to increase servings for families such as food pantries, soccer program, mural projects, Spanish counseling services referral lists for all members of the family, Library list for checking out books, Latino clubs students can get involved in, Student cultural relevant volunteer opportunities and ways to motivate students in education or higher learning or provide opportunities for teachers to give students options to fulfill ICAP/Education requirements, setup field trips

• Coordinate state testing across HA sites

• Serve as a primary point of contact regarding the Heritage Academy including interested families and media outlets, and represent HA in Epic-wide events

• Coordinate with the enrollment department and Scissortail CDC to help parents with enrollment

• Meet monthly with principals and MDIs

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises a team of teachers

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in Spanish and English

• Demonstrated leadership in an educational setting

• Leadership experience in distance education preferred

• Demonstration of effective interpersonal and communication skills

• Prior experience at the middle school and high school level preferred

• Experience teaching within a virtual learning environment

• A minimum of 3 years teaching experience

• A minimum of 3 years leadership or management experience in an educational setting

• An understanding of charter school operations, differentiated learning, and blended learning

• Experience as a virtual/online student, teacher, or administrator

Education and/or Experience

• Master’s Degree in Educational Administration/Leadership, preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, required

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to direct reports, top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.Must be fluent in Spanish and English both verbally and in writing.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Google suite, Microsoft Excel, Word,and PowerPoint. Must have high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Current driver’s license

• Principal Certificate or equivalent, preferred
