The Dean of General Education[BK1] is truly committed to the cause and mission of Ensign College, to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ.
This Position Exists in Order to:
Ensure that both part-time and full-time faculty are delivering excellent instruction consistent with Ensign College’s Learning Signature. The Dean will be an innovator with expertise in curriculum related to General Education and online pedagogy. Inspired leadership will be essential with experience and vision for the following:
· Management of department and program operations and activities involving local full-time and 100+ adjunct faculty
· Work in partnership with BYU-Pathway Worldwide counterparts on integrating systems to serve a global student audience
· Online pedagogy
· Learner-centered pedagogy
· Management of GE distribution courses
· Assessment of applied-skills curriculum and instruction consistent with Ensign College’s Learning Signature
· Institutional and program effectiveness consistent with NWCCU accreditation requirements
Requirements for Employment Eligibility:
· Active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
· Hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
· Commitment to and alignment with the Mission Fit Statement of Ensign College
· Resides in Utah
Minimum Qualifications:
· Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
· Proven understanding of college-level instruction and commitment to immersive learning and applied-skills teaching and mentoring
· Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of effective online education
· Proven experience in working effectively in teams and councils with excellent interpersonal, collaboration, organizational, writing, and computer skills
Essential Job Functions:
· Align planning and implementation with vision, strategic priorities and operational objectives with those of the Board of Trustees and the President’s Executive Council.
· Oversees all aspects of hiring, training, evaluating, and terminating adjunct and full-time faculty. Determines teaching schedules, curriculum, course syllabi, and all other assignments for all faculty.
· Adjusts course sections to optimize hiring of adjunct faculty consistent with enrollment levels and approves courses being offered.
· Compiles grades, attendance records, surveys, and other statistics for evaluation[BK2] . Ensures that appropriate transfer and transcript practices are followed. Maintains the academic advising module in PeopleSoft.
· Resolves student concerns about adjunct and full-time faculty.
· Keeps abreast of common GE academic practices and makes recommendations for policy changes.
· Participates as a key member of workgroups and committees in the college.
· Administers budgets and monitors expenditures according to policy.
