Definition and Distinguishing Roles and Duties
Title: Director of Member Education
Definition: Under direction of the Executive Director, oversees/coordinates the design and delivery of various training programs for ESI corporate member staff, including both new member development and continuing education programs. Assists in the design and implementation of other organizational development initiatives and collaboration opportunities where identified or as directed.
Illustrative Duties:
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of various adult learning styles, group dynamics and methods;
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to manage projects, facilitate groups, and consult on training issues;
Ability to assess training and development at various levels varying from new professionals entering the field to senior and tenured professionals at the pinnacle of their career;
Ability to develop and maintain a network of instructors within and beyond the membership of ESI in order to sustain a roster of available and qualified instructors;
Ability to edit recorded classes for upload to a media outlet for access by our members (this is an optional technical capability for candidates who might possess such skills and experience)
Employment Standards/Licensures/Certification/ Special Requirements
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to the following:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree (or higher level) in education, business administration, organizational development or a related field, or an engineering or technical science discipline relevant to ESI’s mission;
plus four years of professional experience related to: needs assessments, training and delivery, course and program design and development, education and/or organizational development activities, any other adult education system, design and delivery of online or on-demand training systems, or any similar experience.
Experience working for or with nonprofit member support and volunteer coordination optional but very beneficial.

Other Requirements
Some occasional local travel (generally within a 25 mile radius of Chantilly, VA) may be required
Must be able to use standard business productivity systems (eg MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
Familiarity with online collaboration tools (eg Teams, Skype, GoToMeeting, Zoom or similar)
Relocation expenses shall not be reimbursed

Pay: $60,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year

COVID-19 considerations:
This position is currently working a hybrid schedule splitting time between in-office work and telework work from home. ESI office staff is currently working a hybrid schedule to enable minimum office staffing and remote work during the pandemic.
