About the role and what you will be doing:

Enghouse is looking for a General Ledger Accountant, for our Reading office, to help in ensuring the accurate, timely and continuous end-to-end processing of finance transactions, primarily within the Group’s UK companies. The role’s responsibilities will include calculation and booking of accruals, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, assisting in payroll and commission calculations, prepayment, taking responsibility for VAT and local taxes, and inter-company accounting among other duties. You will be expected to take accounting responsibility for a number of companies.

• Calculation and booking of accruals, prepayments, and other balance sheet accounts, maintaining accurate and up to date reconciliations
• Maintenance, booking and upkeep of the fixed asset register
• Ownership of several balance sheet reconciliations
• Responsible for monthly and quarterly Profit and Loss reviews highlighting unusual transactions
• Providing financial commentary and analysis on a quarterly basis
• Assisting in payroll and commission calculation
• Responsibility of the recording of VAT and local taxes accurately and on time and liaise with local accountants to ensure filing of local statutory account and local Corporation tax on time
• Intercompany postings and reconciliation
• Proactive query resolution – internally and externally
• Assisting with the provision of schedules in support of the year end statutory audit
• Support the EMEA Finance team wherever necessary to enhance the effectiveness of the finance function

What you bring:

• Previous finance experience relevant to the role. (Experience in a shared service centre preferred, but not essential)
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge and experience of using accounting system Microsoft Great Plains preferred
• Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUPs/Pivot tables)
• Ability to apply problem solving techniques to day-to-day operations
• Methodical, attentive to detail and ability to process large volume of transactions
• Ability to organise, prioritise and work under pressure to meet demanding deadlines
• Self-motivated with a proactive and flexible attitude towards work
• Able to work under pressure and make decisions – flexible and adaptable
