The Design Engineer/Engineer Technologist will work with the Engineering and Design Team to assist and complete detailed designs and drafting products/standards. Individual will prepare SolidWorks designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, spec sheets and other data, working with all departments to ensure our designs are safe, efficient and cost effective for both new and existing product designs.

1.0 Duties and Responsibilities

· Create fully detailed parts, assemblies, drawings and BOM’s in Solidworks.

· Review drawings from other members of the engineering team.

· Revise drawings and designs in a timely and accurate manner.

· Collaborate with co-workers to design products and resolve problems.

· Perform calculations to develop and design components using computer- assisted programs.

· Assist in the creation of new and existing parts in drafting library

· Always seek ways to improve or optimize current company standards and procedures.

· Communicate with regulatory boards, clients, vendors, manufacturing facility, contractors, sales team and management.

· Report to Engineering Manager.

· Other duties as assigned.

2.0 Requirements

· Possess Engineering Degree or Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent training and experience.

· Minimum five (5) years of AutoCAD/DraftSight, Solidworks, PDM experience required.

· Experience with ASME BPVC Section VIII Division 1 & B31.3 Piping codes is required.

· Knowledge with ERP system management programs. Global Shop ERP experience preferred.

· Codeware Compress experience is an asset.

· Three to five years designing in a manufacturing environment.

· Experience with structural, piping, vessel design and drafting is an asset.

· Experience with instrumentation and P&ID’s.

3.0 Skills and Abilities

· Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards for manufacturing.

· Firm understanding of revision control for drawings and documents.

· Must be flexible and capable to handle wide range of situations and personalities.

· Works well under pressure.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)

· Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.

· Excellent time management and organizational skills.

4.0 Others

· Temporarily work from home with plans to return to an office environment.

· The successful candidate will be required to pass a drug and alcohol screening.
