Empowering Learning are currently recruiting on behalf of a Denton based secondary school for a Finance Officer.
This Finance Officer role will be to oversee the financial aspects of the school and daily operations.
The following two points are absolutely essential to the role and unfortunately there is no flexibility in this. The school are unable to support someone without prior experience due to time constraints.
The Finance Officer would need experience with the Access Finance package as well as Access Budgets.
It is essential the Finance Officer has knowledge of Schools Financial Regulations for a Local Authority Maintained School.
You will also need to have a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
This Finance Officer role will include processing transactions as well as ensure that regulation is met. The budget has already been set so they will not be required to set a budget – just maintain the spend within the budget (accepting / declining orders or requests).
The experience of Access Finance is essential because they will need to use the software to interpret reports / figures to report to the Headteacher and Governors on the position of the school.
We do have LA support for the period of cover so they will not need to process any funding or VAT return, you would just need to make the checks against the funding statements etc.
The Finance Officer would need to manage payroll changes (not process payroll) just reconcile it.
Standard financial processes like bank recs, cash flow and spend controls and monitoring. Maintaining the ParentPay system for income. Ensuring free school meals are allocated to student profiles.
Strong support from the Local Authority to provide guidance where needed and regular check ins with the Headteacher to ensure aspects are being covered.

Qual: Maths & English GCSE A*-C or equivalent.
