Department: Academics Pay Grade: $35/hr (Experience dependent)
Who We Are:
Emile Learning is an on-demand teaching platform focused on high school core classes and AP curriculum. Founded in 2020, Emile’s mission is to provide students globally with equal access to for-credit and supplemental high school courses in a virtual environment. Emile is looking to disrupt the typical classroom experience and build a new age of learning. Our teachers provide an important role in our students’ learning experience by serving as their main point of contact.
Primary Purpose:
This role will be instrumental in helping Emile students progress through a series of pre-filmed video lectures, quizzes, and study guides. You will be expected to bring your expertise to help shape your course through curriculum alignment, assignment build out, and leading remote discussion boards. You will not need to lecture or provide synchronous feedback. Instead, your role is more of a guide to students than a traditional teacher once the “classroom” has been built. You will be responsible for high school student engagement by monitoring discussion boards, providing feedback on submitting assignments, and holding a minimum of one hour of live content a week.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education / Certification:
– Bachelor’s Degree From Accredited College or University
– Valid California Single Subject Teaching Certification
AND/OR
– Valid Masters Degree in a given subject
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Create and align supplement assignments with asynchronous pre-recorded video content
2. Develop ancillary materials that fulfill the requirements of the state’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required
3. Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Emile
4. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students in a virtual capacity
5. Grade essays, exams, and final quizzes of students who are enrolled in your course subject
6. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to Emile requirements
7. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing
8. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, and parents
9. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement
10. Ability to be agile and adjust quickly to changing requirements in a fast-paced startup environment
