Emil Anderson Maintenance – Skeena has an immediate opening for a Ferry Operator at our Usk location. Work involves operating and maintaining a reaction ferry and/or an aerial ferry. Successful applicant will be required to work shifts, including weekends. Facilities are available when overnighting. Position requires work outside in all types of weather.

A reaction ferry is a cable ferry that uses the reaction of the current of a river against a fixed tether to propel the vessel across the water.

Requirement:

· Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Preference given to applicants holding:

· Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A2

· Pleasure Craft Operators license

· Industrial First Aid level 1

Qualifications:

· Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of small boats

· Working knowledge of local river conditions and understands the physical characteristics of the river

· Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate various types of equipment

· Skill in dealing with the public in a courteous and tactful manner

· Physically fit
