Based in Charlottesville, VA, we are looking to expand our high-performing team with a motivated, passionate engineer to help deliver exciting new features for our existing controls ecosystem. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing embedded software, validating product functionality, applying cybersecurity best practices, delivering well-written technical communications, and developing within a continuous integration and delivery environment. For this role we will also consider entry level candidates who qualify. Hybrid work option is also available with this role, details below.

AS A SOFTWARE ENGINEER YOU WILL:

• Gather requirements by working closely with Product Management and customers.
• Use object-oriented programming and design patterns to design software that promotes efficiency, testability, and maintainability.
• Work within an agile process to build software and products.
• Collaborate with your team to meet project objectives and milestones.
• Utilize continuous integration to automate builds, testing, and revision control.
• Continuous improvements to the products and process to increase quality and productivity.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering (or similar) from an accredited university; (OR a High School Diploma / GED and a minimum 6+ years of experience in an engineering position in lieu of a degree)
• 0+ years of related software engineering experience
• Ability and/or knowledge of programming C/C++
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Experience/knowledge with C/C++ programming in an embedded and/or real-time environment
• Experience/knowledge with Bash and CMake
• Experience/knowledge leading small teams
• Experience/knowledge with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery software and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo, Cruise Control, Electric Commander, etc.)
• Knowledge of industrial network protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus)
• Knowledge of Industrial Controls, particularly PLCs
• Experience/knowledge with C# and .NET.
• Domain Driven Design Knowledge of software architectural principles
• Experience with Ethernet networking protocols
• Test Driven Development and Automated Unit Testing experience
