Elmcrest Children’s Center Hiring for Special Education Teacher (Preschool) Job at Syracuse, NY Full Time

We are excited to announce that Elmcrest has an opportunity open for a Special Education Preschool Teacher in our integrated Special Education Preschool classrooms, at our half day program in East Syracuse. The classroom is integrated with students with special needs and general education preschool students as well as 2-3 Teacher Assistants.

You are supported by and gain experience from a highly skilled multidisciplinary team that includes Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapists, a Behavioral Analyst, a Licensed Mental Health Clinician, and a Psychologist. This is a full-time (35 hours per week), 12-month benefit position on a school calendar, including a 6-week summer program.

Qualifications

This position requires:

• Master’s Degree and NYS teacher certification (Students with Disabilities Birth-2 or equivalent).
• Excellent communication skills, knowledge of a range of special education interventions, understanding of behavioral principles, and strong leadership and team building skills.
• Experience working in a special education preschool setting with a multidisciplinary team is preferred.
• Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Integration, and developmental concerns is also desirable.
