Job Summary

Elizabeth Seton High School seeks a part-time Latin Teacher to teach Latin II virtually. This position requires knowledge of classical studies or foreign language education with a Latin specialization. Latin II includes advanced analysis of previously gained knowledge and skills using stories of Roman life, history, and mythology. Coursework involves a study of advanced grammar, additional vocabulary, and translation of works of authentic Roman authors.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Supervises students in the classroom, on school grounds, and on educational trips.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Create a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of their learning that helps foster students’ intellectual, social, and emotional development.
• Provide daily instruction, including clear learning outcomes, well-designed lessons, and high-quality assessments aligned with ESHS curriculum and standards.
• Practical technology skills, including using Seton’s learning management systems (Blackbaud and Google Classroom).
• Communicate regularly with families to identify students’ talents, interests, and needs and update parents regarding students’ achievements and progress.
• Active commitment to enhancing a school community through involvement in committees and student life activities.
• Collaborate with school-based staff and the ESHS community in staff meetings, regular analysis sessions, and professional learning designed to enhance student’s learning experience and increase student achievement.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Experience in a classroom instructional setting preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must navigate school facilities and lead students to safety in an emergency.
• Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.
