Elevation Recruitment Group Looking for Noise & Vibration Engineer at Worksop, Nottinghamshire Full Time

Elevations Technical Engineering team are delighted to be working with Pandrol on a specialist Noise & Vibration Engineer to add to their growing technical division in 2022.

Pandrol defines the industry standard across rail fastening systems and aluminothermic welding. We’ve created rail infrastructure in more than 100 countries with our products and services extending to designing, developing and manufacturing equipment to make constructing and maintaining railways more efficient. We have therefore experienced just about every situation, problem, question and solution before.

The role

To provide N&V expertise to the Pandrol group, with particular emphasis on support provided to the Fastenings division. The primary roles will include, but not be limited to:
-Noise and vibration issues related to the wheel rail interface of railway track systems.
-Representing Pandrol at international conferences and exhibitions, also in discussions with other N&V consultants, as a technical expert in the field of noise and vibration
-The ability to understand the causes of noise and vibration problems related to the railway track environment.
-Providing key methods of measuring this disturbance and isolating the root causes to enable N&V mitigation systems to be developed, optimized, installed in track and their performance measured and reported on Undertake noise and vibration measurements to determine the cause and scale of the issue, for example, insertion loss Be able to devise and propose countermeasures to mitigate the noise and vibration effects
-Work closely with the testing laboratories based in Worksop and Douai (France) and prepared to carry out global site work, to understand different track related problems.
-Be able to explain to non-experts in this field the subject matter in a way that they can understand.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

-Experience of noise and vibration within the railway track environment is preferred, supported by examples of work carried out, root cause analysis, suggested solutions and results obtained.
-Civil Engineering noise and vibration related experience would also be considered, covering aspects relating to ground borne vibration, and secondary noise related issues.
-The ability to demonstrate a self-motivated work ethic is essential, as is the ability to work remotely whilst building and maintaining a strong relationship with the key engineering and laboratory staff within the group.
-The ability to build a small team of technical N&V experts would be seen as a work in progress once the basic N&V services are in place.
-Examples of other work that has been presented as a paper, or a conference presentation would be an advantage
