We are searching for several Machine Operators for our new mass timber fabrication facility in St. Thomas. If you are an experienced operator that enjoys learning new skills & methodologies in a team-based environment, then please read on! As Machine Operator you are responsible for the processing of lumber into mass timber using the assigned equipment. Your success will depend on bringing together your training and experience in quality, operational procedures, system operation, and health & safety.

Your responsibilities will also include:
Operating machinery/equipment as trained to maximize plant efficiency;

Flexibility to changes in assignment to provide support to other areas of the department;

Taking part in the continuous improvement process to improve productivity and quality (provides suggestions, participate in problem-solving, volunteering on committee or focus group activities) and focusing on solutions;

Alerting your supervisor/maintenance of any safety, quality, maintenance or production concerns related to equipment;

Performing visual and documented inspections on parts as required;

Adhering to Element5 safety policies, manufacturing procedures and workplace policies;

Providing input to management to facilitate effective cost reduction, work simplification, scheduling, or other continuous improvement measures;

Maintaining 5S and housekeeping programs in area of work;

Completing regular reports as required;

Participating and/or leading special assignments when necessary;

Performing other duties as assigned by Management.

Education & Experience

Completed post-secondary program in a related area of study, an asset;

Completed wood processing courses, as asset;

2-3 years machine operation experience;

Knowledgeable of quality and compliance standards;

Experience working with an ERP system, or related.

Other Qualifications

Able to operate basic computer functions including software programs and applications;

Open to receiving and giving feedback to others, both positive and constructive;

Strong ability to lead, coach, and drive a team to succeed;

Integrity, leading by example;

Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy;

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs comfortably.
